The Care and Feeding of Video-TapesWARNINGVideotape is a very fragile recording medium. Therefore, please handle your tapes with extreme care. Here are some tips to keep your memories alive years from now. - Have your video recorder or camera services by an authorised service technician regularly. Dirt on video heads and guide pins is the biggest cause of tape damage.
- Don't leave videotapes in the video recorder, or place too close to electric motors, transformers or loudspeakers.
- Keep your tapes away from moisture, heat and out of the sun.
- Copy your important videotapes and only use your copy for viewing. We recommend copying them to DVD, as you will lose about 40% of the quality copying to another videotape.
- Store your important tapes in a cool, dry area, such as the wardrobe or dressing table, out of the reach of young children.
- Every 6 to 12 months, on a warm dry day, wind the videotapes to the end and back to the beginning.
- Don't lend your tapes to other people.
